Ceci n’est pas une salle de musique is a temporary space designed for Casa Decor, inspired by the haute couture of Cristóbal Balenciaga and the surrealist world of René Magritte, two leading figures in contemporary art at the time Casa Tomás Allende was built.
Conceived as a tailor-made suit for music, the space combines Balenciaga’s color palette, black-and-white contrasts, and sculptural textile forms with decorative elements inspired by Magritte’s imagery. The result is an immersive atmosphere where art, design, and perception come together.
The design incorporates glass mosaics, acoustic panels, textiles, and finishes selected with sustainability in mind. Some of these materials were intended to have a second life after the exhibition, making reuse an integral part of the temporary design.
