Can Espanyol is a residential project located in the historic center of Santa Eulalia, taking as its starting point a traditional Ibizan casa payesa, listed as a heritage asset. From this reference, the intervention translates the values of the island’s vernacular architecture into a contemporary residential proposal.
The building is conceived as a transition between architecture and landscape. Through landscaped terraces, large planters, and a permeable skin of ceramic latticework, the project softens the urban context, filters natural light, and enhances the privacy of the homes, contributing to a more sustainable architecture that responds sensitively to the Mediterranean climate.
The intervention also introduces new pedestrian connections at ground level, improving the permeability of the urban fabric and linking different streets within the historic center. The scheme is organized into two blocks articulated around an interior courtyard, ensuring dual-aspect homes, cross ventilation, and a fluid relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces.
The residential program comprises 57 one- to three-bedroom homes, complemented by generous communal areas including a rooftop swimming pool and chill-out area with sea views, a gym, gardens, retail spaces, and three levels of underground parking.
The penthouses stand out for their private terraces and swimming pools, conceived as spaces for enjoyment in direct connection with the landscape.
Can Espanyol is a residential proposal that integrates heritage, sustainability, and quality of life, reinterpreting traditional architecture through a contemporary lens.
