Development of a digital survey, point cloud, and As-Built BIM model for the Hyatt hotel complex in Montego Bay, Jamaica, with the objective of generating a reliable technical basis of the asset’s actual condition following the damage caused by Hurricane Melissa.
Through 3D laser scanning and point cloud generation, the hotel areas were documented with a high level of precision, capturing geometries, dimensions, façades, circulation routes, architectural elements, and existing building conditions.
The As-Built BIM model was developed as a decision-making support tool, facilitating coordination between ownership, operator, design, engineering, and construction teams. This digital basis provided verifiable information to assess interventions, plan works, coordinate disciplines, and reduce uncertainty during the following project phases.
The scope included point cloud processing, information structuring, architectural and structural modeling at LOD 200, and the delivery of an organized BIM basis for consultation, coordination, and technical documentation development.
The methodology applied transformed the physical survey of the asset into an accurate digital model, useful for rehabilitation, redesign, construction control, and future building management processes.
